A DIGITAL DRIVE BY

My favorite pastime is driving and listening to music. I enjoy the exhilaration of traipsing the roads for absolutely no reason at all— just to feel footloose and fancy free and listen to my music at way too many decibels.

I’ll be the first to admit it, I probably have a bit of adult ADD. My mind is on perpetual scan, forever searching through the gray matter and processing multiple queries. The thoughts running through my mind at any given time are akin to a radio signal full of static. Like a bunch of kindergartener lining up for recess, they all clamor for first place in my attention span, urging, “Pick me! Pick me!”

ZONING OUT IS THERAPEUTIC

I don’t know the exact reason (I suspect there’s some sort of neuroscience behind it) but it seems to me that when I’m in the car, busy driving with my faculties occupied with the road, with my favorite tunes blaring through the speakers, my mind somehow quiets down enough that I am able to think thoughts sequentially.  Those pesky multiprocessors sink progressively lower into background mode.  When this finally happens, I am often surprised (and entertained) at what makes its way to the front of the line.  Some thoughts are serious (they are chronicled in my other blogs but not here) and most of these liberated thoughts are light and humorous.

KEEP DRIVING IF YOU’RE A STICK IN THE MUD

The purpose of this blog is to be my multimedia repository for those thoughts.  In other words, this is my AV lab where I attach pertinent graphics and music (my true love and avocation in life) to illustrate those thoughts so I can experience the endorphins again.

So, if you’ve got a good sense of humor, I invite you to join me here for a little fun an frivolity.  However, if you’re the stoic type who wears your knickers in a knot and always keep a stiff upper lip, keep moving along, because you see, here on this sight, it’s dedicated to having fun FOR ABSOLUTELY NO REASON.
